38. Prior To The Start of Each Match

38.1 The 1st referee shall, prior to the start of each match, inspect the court and all necessary equipment to determine its suitability for play.
 

38.1.1 Where match equipment is declared unsuitable, the Referee Delegate must immediately be informed. The Referee Delegate shall immediately take all appropriate action under the circumstances to remedy the problem.

38.2 The 1st referee shall verify which players are present for the commencement of the first set, and thus eligible to play. Any player arriving late is entitled to play without penalty when they arrive if their name is listed on the scoresheet at the commencement of the match.

38.3 The first referee shall advise the coach or team captain of any uniform infringements during warm-up to enable teams an opportunity to rectify the infringement.
