30. Blood

30.1 Matches must not continue if there is:

  • a bleeding player; or
  • blood on the ball/s; or
  • blood on any equipment; or
  • blood on the court; or 
  • blood on any clothing.


30.2 Should bleeding occur, the player(s) must be removed from the match and must not return to the court until there is no evidence of blood or bleeding.
 

30.2.1 If the bleeding can be resolved quickly the match may be halted until the bleeding has stopped.
 

30.2.2 Should the bleeding cause a prolonged interruption, then that player must be substituted legally or exceptionally if no legal substitution is available.


30.3 Matches must be halted until such time as all blood has been removed from the ball/s, playing equipment, court and/or player’s uniforms to the satisfaction of the first referee.
 

30.3.1 The stopping of the match needs to be recorded in the comments section of the scoresheet.

30.3.2 If blood is captured on any part of the player’s uniform, at discretion of the referee delegate, players may wear a non-playing uniform. This must be noted in the comments section of the scoresheet.
